The Nine Two Foundation have pledged to invest £0.8 billion into Manchester United if their bid to take over the club is accepted.
However, according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, the Glazer family will not factor the proposed investment into their decision-making process.
Their only consideration is the club valuation figure, which is based on 100 percent of the shares rather than the 69% held by the Glazers.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s offer is based on a 100% club valuation, from which he wants a controlling stake. He will invest further but has not included the details in his bid.
It’s time for the Glazers to stop stalling
The ongoing ownership saga has undoubtedly tested the patience of United fans.
The Glazers have dragged this process out long enough, and it is time for a decision to be made.
The Nine Two Foundation, led by Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, have reportedly made a bid that is less than the £6 billion asking price.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s bid is reportedly in the same ballpark, although there are doubts about whether he can compete financially with the Qatari.
His offer would allow the Glazers to remain at Old Trafford, as would the third option of a hedge fund taking part ownership in the club.
Neither of those options would sit well with United fans – the Glazers need to go and it must happen this summer.
A bid that represents the highest ever made for a sports club should be plenty enough for owners who have already had their pound of flesh and more from United.
