Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is concerned over Dan Ashworth’s potential departure to Manchester United

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed concerns over Dan Ashworth’s potential departure to Manchester United.

The Red Devils have reportedly secured an informal agreement with Ashworth but they still have to convince Newcastle to let their sporting director leave.

United want to appoint Ashworth, and the two clubs are expected to reach an agreement soon. However, Howe is worried about the move.

“Your concerns are relevant,” said the English boss when the issue was raised by a journalist during his pre-match press conference on Friday (quotes via the Daily Mail).

“I don’t know quite how much I can say on that, but I share your feelings. Whatever happens, I think we want a quick resolution. It’s better for everybody if that’s the case.”

United moving in the right direction under INEOS

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have made several bold decisions in the last few months as they aim to transform the club’s fortunes.

They have made several changes in the club’s boardroom, appointing some respected names for key positions at Old Trafford.

The British billionaire and his team pulled off a coup by signing Omar Berrada as their new Chief Executive Officer last month.

Berrada boasts enormous commercial expertise and is widely regarded as one of the most experienced executives at the top of European football.

United are now poised to land Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.

He has an impressive CV from his time with Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle and could be a key player in United’s bid to become a big-hitter again.
