‘Never doubt him’, ‘unplayable’ – some Man United fans hail midfielder’s performance against Chelsea

Some Manchester United supporters have levied praise on midfielder Paul Pogba following his excellent second-half display in the club’s comfortable 4-0 Premier League win over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils started the season’s curtain-raiser on the back foot with a number of scoring opportunities for the visitors, but they managed to find the opener against the run of play after Marcus Rashford successfully converted a penalty in the 18th minute.

Following the interval, Frank Lampard’s side pressed ahead in the search for the leveller, but a counter-attack from the Red Devils allowed Andreas Pereira to whip in a low cross for Anthony Martial to tap home for a 2-0 lead in the 67th minute.

Shortly after, Paul Pogba came into his own with a sublime defence-splitting pass from deep for Rashford’s second goal on the counter-attack before assisting Daniel James’ debut strike after initially making the run behind the Blues’ backline.

Pogba was far from his best form during the opening half where he was guilty of losing the ball on numerous occasions. However, he managed to redeem himself with a couple of assists during the second phase of the encounter and that has generally pleased a section of the fans.

Here are some of the reactions on Twitter…..

With the victory, United have leaped to the second spot on the table behind only Manchester City on goal difference. Their next league challenge will come against Wolverhampton Wanderers on the road on August 19.
