Mourinho set to test United again

Zemanta Related Posts ThumbnailThe next two weeks will go a long way to determine Wayne Rooney’s future, as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho revealed that he’ll submit a third and final bid for the United striker before the end of the transfer window.

United host Chelsea on Monday night and the Portuguese manager has refused to rule out a third bid for the 27-year-old, who returned to action against Swansea on Saturday, providing two assists for United’s third and fourth goal, before seemingly avoiding to join his team-mates in celebration.

Mourinho, who seems to have taken classes from Ed Woodward in terms of pursuing players, confirmed that he’ll test United’s stance once more before the transfer window shuts on September 2, by submitting another offer for Rooney, which some newspapers believe could be in the region of £40m.

“You try, because nobody forbids you to try. When you think that you’d like to have one player and the market is open and the official bids are not forbidden, official bids are always accepted in an ethical way. The player’s owners they can do exactly what we did in relation to David Luiz and Barcelona,” Mourinho told the Guardian.

David Moyes and Manchester United have already turned down Chelsea’s two previous offers and have reiterated that Wayne Rooney is not for sale at any price, but Mourinho is desperate to land his number one target this summer.

Would it be too cynical to suggest the Portuguese will launch his final bid immediately before Monday night’s game to unsettle Rooney?
