Mourinho approves United’s decision

RTX10IKKNew Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his approval at United’s decision to appoint David Moyes as manager following Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure.

The Portuguese, who at one stage had widely been tipped to succeed Ferguson, was adamant the former Everton manager deserves the opportunity to manage Manchester United after spending a decade at Goodison Park.

Last season’s top three clubs have all replaced their managers and Mourinho and Moyes will both be at the centre of what could be one of the most delicately poised season in Premier League history, at least judging by the current odds. For those who love sports related betting, Betfair currently have manager-less Manchester City 15/8 favourites to lift the title next season, with United in second spot at 2/1 and Mourinho’s Chelsea in third at 9/4.

Chelsea and City are expected to embark on a spending spree in a bid to wrestle the title away from United but, despite Chelsea’s and City’s financial muscles, Jose Mourinho still believes David Moyes was the right man to replace Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking to the press for the first time since his return at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho praised Moyes’ achievements at Everton as well as the Scotsman’s work ethic, as reported yesterday by the Guardian.

“David proved himself at Everton. Okay, no trophies, but it’s not easy to get a trophy when you manage Everton and he was not far from doing that.

“He has good experience, good work. I am more than happy, and I feel very happy for him. Man United will give him the time to adapt to a new dimension.

“He has never played a Champions League match so people can’t expect him to be a fish in water in that first match. Give him time, stability. United is perfect for that, so that’s a very good choice.”
