Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been one of the top players in the first six games of the 2017-18 Premier League season.
The Manchester United playmaker has been involved in six goals in his six starts – scoring once and assisting five.
Jose Mourinho has been playing the former-Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Dortmund star in the number 10 role this season compared to the wing where he played the majority of the time last season.
However, it’s not his starting position that Mkhitaryan has put his poor form of last season down to. The 28-year-old told Sky Sports he had a lot of injuries last season:
“I can say last season I started not good as I had lots of injuries and I didn’t feel good playing games.
“But this season is different because I started playing well and the connection and understanding with other players, especially [Romelu] Lukaku, is great and I hope we can score many goals in the coming games.”
£75 million summer signing Romelu Lukaku has started in fine form for us with six goals in his six Premier League starts. The Belgian striker has combined very well with Mkhitaryan just behind him.
Mkhitaryan continued:
“I’ve worked very hard to get a place in the Premier League games and I must continue to train hard to convince the manager he can trust me to play Premier League games.
“I know there is no limit to the work I can do and I just want to provide as many assists and goals as I can.”
Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined last summer from Borussia Dortmund with a big reputation as an attacking midfielder who was frequently involved in goals in the German Bundesliga, both scoring and setting up. He played very well in all three attacking midfield positions in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Our playmaker is part of the squad who have travelled to Russia to face CSKA Moscow in the Champions League tomorrow.
