Michael Carrick could make his first appearance of the 2017-18 season today when Manchester United travel to Stoke for the Premier League’s evening kickoff.
Our club captain has yet to feature or even be named among the substitutes in the opening three league games of the season. He was an unused substitute in our UEFA Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid last month.
However, the 36-year-old has travelled with the first-team today and with players travelling all over the world over the international break this past week, matched with our Champions League opener versus FC Basel on Tuesday, Jose Mourinho could be forced to rotate his squad today.
The boss has previously named the same 10 players in each of our three Premier League openers with only Anthony Martial coming in for Marcus Rashford to start last time out.
Should Carrick feature at the Bet365 Stadium today you would expect it to be in place of Nemanja Matic or Paul Pogba.
The following players have all travelled to Stoke today (not full list):
Joel Pereira
Chris Smalling
Eric Bailly
Phil Jones
Daley Blind
Matteo Darmian
Jesse Lingard
Michael Carrick
Paul Pogba
Nemanja Matic
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Juan Mata
Marcus Rashford
Anthony Martial
Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United would be guaranteed to end the weekend top of the Premier League with a win at Stoke City this evening.
