Medical today, Manchester United finally agree £85m deal for 26-year-old star – Telegraph

Manchester United have eventually reached an agreement to pursue the services of defender Harry Maguire from Leicester City this summer.

The Red Devils failed with a £70m bid for the centre-back earlier last month but they continued to hold negotiations with the Foxes, who were deemed to demand a fee in the region of £90m.

According to The Telegraph,  the clubs are said to have finally agreed on a £85m package for the 26-year-old and he is set to surpass Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk as the world’s most-expensive defender.

Meanwhile, the same publication claims that the defender has already arrived at the club’s Carrington training base for a series of medical tests and the deal could be announced at the earliest possibility.

The transfer window has brought plenty of frustration for the supporters, given the club have made no signings over the past month despite being linked with some of the big names across Europe.

Maguire’s arrival may not be the only piece of business before the transfer deadline with the Red Devils said to be working on a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.

As per Goal.com, Lukaku has already agreed personal terms regarding the transfer to the Turin giants, but Dybala has yet to oblige to the same with United, although there remains the optimism that the deal will go through.

United play their final pre-season friendly against AC Milan in Cardiff on Saturday evening. Maguire could find himself linking up with his teammates for the game, should the move be officially announced in the coming hours.
