Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has completed his medical ahead of his initial loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Dutchman has been a fringe player for the Red Devils this term and he has played less than 30 minutes across all competitions under manager Erik ten Hag.
It was confirmed last week that he would be joining Frankfurt on loan with a buy clause. The midfielder has now successfully had his medical without any complications.
Both clubs still need to clarify some small details over the agreement, but Plettenberg reports that a formal announcement could be made over the deal this week.
Van de Beek set to end nightmare spell at United
The 26-year-old joined United from Ajax for €39 million three years ago with a huge reputation.
Van de Beek was one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the Eredivisie and it was anticipated that he could make the number eight position his own in future.
However, the Dutchman has failed to live up to the expectations. He has struggled to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League and has barely impressed at the club.
With just two goals and two assists from 62 appearances, Van de Beek has been very disappointing and he will be hoping to restart his career in the German Bundesliga.
Frankfurt have an option to buy him for €10m next summer. United will be hoping that Van de Beek makes a big impression to convince them to trigger the buy clause.
Aside from the midfielder, we could also see Anthony Martial heading for the exit door in January with United reluctant to extend his contract expiring at the end of the season.
Jadon Sancho could also make way after his fall-out with the manager. He has no future at the club and has been linked with a possible return to Germany with Borussia Dortmund.
