McTominay and Tuanzebe start, Predicted Man United lineup (3-4-1-2) to face Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United entertain Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford. The Red Devils have failed to win any of their three matches following the international break and this has included frustrating draws against Sheffield United and Aston Villa in the league.

In the same period, Spurs have excelled under new boss Mourinho with three victories on the bounce in all competitions and the north London side are certainly the in-form club ahead of the forthcoming league encounter.

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Predicted Lineup:

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reverted to a four-man backline for the weekend league clash against Aston Villa but it is unlikely that the Norwegian will go with the same setup against Spurs. Mourinho’s side have flourished in the attack with their impressive and quick distribution and Dele Alli has been one player, who has managed to revive his early career form under the Portuguese’s guidance.

As such, Solskjaer would definitely be wise to have more protection at the back and hence, we are fancying a central defensive trio of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Axel Tuanzebe ahead of goalkeeper David de Gea. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams are the likely picks for the right and left wing-back positions but Solskjaer does have the option of going with the experience of Shaw or Young for the latter.

In the midfield, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic may require late fitness tests to make the game and we are predicting that the former could make the lineup. Andreas Pereira was far from impressive against Aston Villa where his distribution was once more disappointing from open play. McTominay should replace him. Alongside the Scot, Fred seems the likelier choice over Matic, who has regularly received criticism from the fans for taking too much time on the ball.

In the frontline, Daniel James seems a genuine option to start in the attacking midfield role behind the strike duo of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford. The trio could change places depending on the situation. Rashford and James could shift to the wide attacking positions when United are able to engage Spurs on the counter-attack.
