Manchester United could secure the signature of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana with a fresh transfer offer, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 6).
The Red Devils have already made a couple of bids for the 27-year-old. They recently proposed to pay €45 million plus €5m in add-ons which was rejected by Inter.
The Nerazzurri continue to request for €60m, but Corriere dello Sport claim that they could be convinced if United offer a fixed fee of €50m plus add-ons – ‘partly easy to achieve’.
The Italian outlet believe it could be a ‘matter of days’ to find a solution. Onana is likely to demand wages of €7m per year. There is no ‘definitive agreement’ with him for now.
Onana could join Man Utd in the coming days
United are yet to make an improved third bid for the Cameroonian star, but it is only a matter of time.
With David de Gea’s exit, it is quite clear that the club have decided to spend big on a new number one.
Onana is the clear-cut target for manager Erik ten Hag, having worked together at former club Ajax.
The 27-year-old would perfectly fit into Ten Hag’s plans with his impressive ball-playing ability.
He is good with his short and long passes, and also likes to make high claims in the box.
Onana has the ability to operate as a sweeper-keeper to negate opposition counter-attacks.
He is a no-brainer signing for the club. We anticipate the deal to be formally agreed soon.
The shot-stopper has not agreed personal terms yet, but his demands are not exorbitant.
