Mason Greenwood could return to Man Utd training ahead of pre-season

Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United remains shrouded in uncertainty.

According to The Mirror, United are trying to sell the young striker permanently. However, if a deal isn’t reached within the next two weeks, he could be back in training for pre-season.

Greenwood spent last season on loan at Spanish club Getafe, where he tallied ten goals and six assists in 36 appearances.

Serie A club Lazio have expressed interest in signing the 22-year-old, but their initial £30 million offer fell short of United’s asking price.

United want to recoup at least £40m for their academy product even though he has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford.

Juventus have also registered interest in Greenwood and are planning a potential swap deal that could see Federico Chiesa join United.

Chiesa has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the past few seasons, and that transfer may come to fruition this summer as he enters the final year of his contract with Juventus.

United had planned to re-integrate Greenwood into Erik ten Hag’s squad after the charges against him were dropped.

However, they ditched those plans amid fears of fan backlash and decided to send him out on loan.

The club still wants to sell Greenwood permanently, but there hasn’t been any progress.

If United fail to sell him, the striker could return to the fold for pre-season, which could bring further criticism to the club.

United are also looking to sell Jadon Sancho permanently this summer after a fairly impressive loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona are interested in the English winger, and he has made it clear that he is willing to take a pay cut to join the Spanish giants on loan.
