Mason Greenwood could make shock Premier League return as Man Utd teammates open to playing alongside him

Mason Greenwood could make a shock return to the Premier League as his teammates at Manchester United are reportedly open to playing alongside him again.

The 22-year-old hasn’t played for the Red Devils since his arrest in January 2022 following charges of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.

The charges were eventually dropped but the club sent the forward on loan to Getafe for the season after an internal investigation lasting several months.

Greenwood has hit the ground running at the Estadio Coliseum as he has scored eight goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for the La Liga outfit.

Getafe want to make his loan move permanent, but he could also return to Manchester.

The Sun have claimed that Greenwood’s teammates at Old Trafford have backed him to return to the club.

Greenwood return is unlikely

New United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently suggested Greenwood could still have a future at the club.

His teammates at United are also reportedly open to playing with him again, but that scenario is unlikely given the potential backlash from fans.

Most supporters want the club to get rid of Greenwood due to his actions.

He has been playing well this season and there is interest from some top European clubs

United are likely to receive a decent fee if they decide to sell him in the summer, and they will probably take that decision.
