Martial and Greenwood start, Predicted Manchester United lineup (4-2-3-1) vs Wolves

Manchester United are scheduled to host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round replay of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening. The Red Devils had a forgettable game at the Molineux earlier this month where they were unable to manage a single shot of target, and that was their first instance for them in a domestic game in five years.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Lineup:

Sergio Romero has been the regular pick for most of the Cup games this season and he should get the nod over David de Gea in goal. The Argentine has kept six clean sheets from eight appearances this season and that includes a shutout in each of his past four games.

In the central defence, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have much room for changes with the likes of Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo still short of fitness after recovering from their respective injuries. Hence, the manager may stick with Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Likewise, Solskjaer should start with his strongest available options in the full-back positions, given the chance to progress to the next round of the Cup competition. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams should feature.

There is the possibility of Luke Shaw replacing Willians at left-back but that could be a risky option, suppose the Englishman has not completely recovered from his illness ahead of the testing challenge against Adama Traore.

In the centre of the park, Solskjaer opted to field Andreas Pereira and Nemanja Matic in the reverse fixture at the Molineux and he may go with the same combination. Solskjaer will be aware of the crucial Premier League clash at Liverpool over the weekend and that may contribute to Fred receiving a reduced role off the bench on Wednesday.

Further forward, Marcus Rashford remains doubtful for the replay due to a knock he has been carrying for the past few games. Should Solskjaer keep him on the bench, that could witness Daniel James feature on the left wing.

Mason Greenwood took his goal tally to nine for the season with another goal off the bench against Norwich and the teenager could be handed with a start on the right side of the attack. Elsewhere, Juan Mata should keep his place after bagging a couple of superb assists last weekend while Anthony Martial will lead the line.
