Marcus Rashford sends message to Manchester United fans after injury blow

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has sent a message to the club’s supporters shortly after it was confirmed that he would be sidelined for the next couple of months with a stress fracture (in his back) picked up during the FA Cup third round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The England international has been the club’s leading scorer this term with 19 goals and five goals across all competitions and in terms of the Premier League, he has contributed towards exactly 50 percent of the club’s goal tally.

As a result, his absence is definitely a huge blow for the club in the attacking department and the next 10 days should give an indication whether the board are prepared to pursue a new player, who can at least cover the void temporarily.

In a post on his official Twitter account, Rashford has indicated that he would be involved with the team outside of the playing field and has vowed to return ‘fitter than ever’ during the closing stages of the current campaign.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not talked up the possibility of recruiting a new forward before the transfer deadline but of late, the club have been linked with a possible move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, who has handed in a transfer request.

Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night. The Clarets have proved a tricky opposition for the club in the past. Sean Dyche’s side have picked up draws in each of the previous three league meetings at Old Trafford.
