Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has returned to training ahead of the crucial clash against Newcastle United on Sunday.
Rashford suffered a knock in United’s 3-1 FA Cup win over Fulham. He was seen limping off the pitch in the 83rd minute of the game.
As a result of this injury, he was forced to withdraw from the England squad which clashed against Italy and Ukraine this past week.
The forward took some rare time off but now has returned to training at Carrington.
Manchester United confirmed that Rashford has started his recovery by taking part in light training, away from the main group.
The Red Devils next face fifth-placed Newcastle in the Premier League. It is a critical match as the race for the top four heats up.
Manchester United needs fully-fit Marcus Rashford
Rashford has been in spectacular form this season, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists in 26 league games.
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure and Anthony Martial’s injury, the burden to score goals has fallen on Rashford’s shoulders.
Man United’s run has tailed off in the league lately, winning just twice in the past five games.
At one point, there were talks that Red Devils might be a dark horse in this year’s title race. However, those conversations have dried up.
Third-placed Man United are just three points ahead of the Magpies. Tottenham Hotspur are occupying fourth spot, but have played two games more than Man United and Newcastle.
Rashford is United’s most lethal attacking weapon and is a sure starter if he regains his fitness.
Ten Hag is already without Casemiro (suspended) and Alejandro Garnacho (injured). Marcel Sabitzer’s inclusion is also doubtful because of a knee injury.
The Dutchman will be hopeful the England international can complete his rehabilitation and feature against Newcastle.
