Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has said that he has made good progress in his recovery from a back injury and is looking forward to training when the players return to the Carrington complex.
The England international suffered a double stress fracture in his back during the FA Cup third round replay against Wolverhampton Wanderers in January and he has since missed 13 games for the club.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Rashford has now revealed that he is on course to make his comeback this season and is currently in a much better position when compared to the beginning of the month.
“I feel much better. I have a scan in another couple of days and that should solidify it, but I feel much better compared to two or three weeks ago. I feel 10 times better now,” he was quoted as saying in the exclusive interview.
“For me, now it’s just about getting ready to build up back up to training and then playing games for the team. I’m in a much better place. I’m much happier than I was about a month ago so things are looking positive.”
Earlier this month, Solskjaer suggested that Rashford could return to first-team training by the end of April and may feature for United during the final weeks of the campaign.
However, with the unexpected shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the attacker should be handed more playing time with the club, suppose the season resumes after April 30.
A May restart appears unlikely at the moment and Football.London claims that the 2019/2020 season could resume in July with the aim of completing the remaining games behind closed doors.
Manchester United are in a good position to qualify for the Champions League this term. At present, their fifth spot assures qualification to the elite competition due to Manchester City’s European ban.
Meanwhile, they are virtually through to the quarter-final stage of the Europa League and winning the trophy would also guarantee them a Champions League group stage berth for next season.
