Manchester United have made a major U-turn over the future of Marcus Rashford.
The 28-year-old has joined the United training camp in Dublin and could make his return against AC Milan on August 15.
According to The Athletic, Rashford is said to be excited at working under manager Michael Carrick.
He is set to wear number 14 jersey, previously worn by Christian Eriksen and Jesse Lingard.
Rashford burst through the United academy door under Louis van Gaal, with Carrick playing a key role in midfield.
The former midfielder later joined the coaching staff and helped Rashford continue his development under both Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, the United academy graduate eventually fell out with former manager Ruben Amorim, resulting in him being pushed towards the exit in January 2025.
INEOS initially sent him on a six-month loan to Aston Villa, before Rashford spent the following campaign at Barcelona.
With United now back in the UEFA Champions League, Rashford is set to earn around £325,000 per week at Old Trafford.
INEOS still want to offload the forward, but a lack of serious suitors has forced Rashford back into the United fold.
The two parties could still part ways before the window closes, but only if United receive an offer that meets their expectations.
Rashford received a positive welcome from fans outside the training camp, suggesting that some sections of the United faithful are still willing to give him another chance.
However, his performances on the pitch will ultimately decide the fate of his second spell at Old Trafford.
