Manchester United have had a tough start to the Premier League season and they have picked up just 15 points after 11 games played.
The Red Devils are languishing 13th in the table, but only four points separate them from Chelsea, who are placed third at the moment.
United will be aiming to climb up the table swiftly under new boss Ruben Amorim in the coming weeks.
Amorim took charge of his first training session earlier on Monday and there were some surprises.
Antony operated as a right wing-back in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation while Marcus Rashford played as the centre-forward.
Rashford got the nod with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund out on international duty, but Goal claim that he is ‘expected‘ to start there.
The £50 million-rated star also responded positively after his first session under Amorim on Instagram stories.
In our opinion, the 27-year-old could emerge as the manager’s preferred striker going forward.
Rashford could become United’s regular number nine
Hojlund and Zirkzee have struggled leading the attack this campaign. The duo have netted just three goals across all competitions.
Rashford has fared better with four goals thus far and we won’t be surprised if he gets the nod up front for the forthcoming games.
Amorim prefers to operate with wing-backs and it is unlikely that Rashford will play there, given his lack of defensive awareness.
This could see Rashford lead the line with the recent shortcomings of Hojlund and Zirkzee.
Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount could operate as the inverted forwards with Rashford up top.
Rashford’s main strengths are his speed and finishing skills. Amorim could look to leverage those attributes in the centre-forward role.
If he can find his form and confidence, there is a strong possibility that he could become an undisputed starter from the number nine position.
