Manuel Ugarte pictured arriving at Carrington ahead of £51m Manchester United move

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte is set to become Manchester United’s fifth major summer signing.

The Uruguay international arrived at Carrington late last night ahead of his £51 million move.

The Sun posted a picture of the South American and his representatives at the training base, with a medical expected to take place this morning.

Man United have signed forward Joshua Zirkzee and defensive trio Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for £155m this summer.

Ugarte, who will cost a further £8.5m in add-ons if certain clauses are met, will be desperate to prove himself after his only campaign with PSG failed to go as planned.

Man United lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion in their second Premier League game of the season last weekend after winning 1-0 over Fulham on the opening day of the new season.

They take on Liverpool at home on Sunday, and manager Erik ten Hag could be tempted to thrust Ugarte into the starting XI.

Man United have been able to raise cash for the deal through the sale of Scott McTominay to Napoli.

The Scotland international midfielder is set to join the Serie A club in a £25m deal, and his sale represents pure profit for the Red Devils as he is an academy graduate.

The club are closing in on their fifth summer signing and could still add another player to their ranks ahead of the summer transfer deadline on Friday night.

Chelsea attacker Raheem Sterling could join Man United in a swap deal, which could see Jadon Sancho move in the opposite direction.

United’s sporting director, Dan Ashworth, is reportedly enthusiastic about a deal for the England international.

The 29-year-old is keen on the move, and talks have been held between both clubs. Adding him to their attack could boost their chances in front of goal.
