The agony of being a Manchester United fan is unmatched compared to any other club, especially during the transfer season. Wild speculations follow around the best players in the world linking them to United. It makes progress and sometimes doesn’t. If things don’t go as planned, United shift to other targets. To sum up, it is slow, timid and pale.
The agony intensifies further when you see United’s rival clubs making quick moves. Some of them even agree to deals before the transfer window opened. It makes United vulnerable. The lack of a Sporting Director is evident every time United makes contact with a player.
United have not signed a single player and we are almost one month into the transfer market.
Jadon Sancho’s transfer saga is yet to show a result. The Athletic understands that there are no negotiations taking place for Jack Grealish. Many are linked and talks are going on but results don’t show up.
Gabriel Magalhaes is the latest transfer debacle United have suffered. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Lille defender is all set to join Arsenal in a deal worth €30m and the official announcement is expected next week.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported a couple of days ago that United are also interested in signing the Brazilian but they’ve asked for some time. However, Gabriel wanted to decide his future within 48 hours.
United’s hesitation to act quicker saw them miss out on another player to their rivals. United had an advantage over Arsenal of Champions League football and the Red Devils not having a reliable left-footed center-back. However, their lack of proactivity proved to be a deal-breaker.
Earlier this week, it was reported that United’s targets Kalidou Koulibaly and Jack Grealish are chased by Manchester City and United are nowhere near City.
