Manchester United’s Amad Diallo stars in Sunderland’s 3-0 win over Preston

Amad Diallo starred in Sunderland’s 3-0 victory over Preston North End as Tony Mowbray’s side secured a place in the Championship play-offs on the final day of the season.

Both teams failed to break the deadlock in the first half before Amad delivered a sensational long-range effort in the 54th minute to put his side ahead.

Alex Pritchard and Jack Clarke then added two more within the space of four minutes to kill the game as a contest.

Despite winning the away encounter, the Black Cats still needed either Middlesborough to beat Coventry City or Millwall to drop points against Blackburn Rovers at The Den.

While Boro and Coventry played out a 1-1 draw, the Lions slumped to a disappointing 4-3 loss despite being 3-1 up at one point.

The result at Millwall meant Sunderland finished sixth in the table, earning a shot at Premier League promotion in their first season back in the Championship.

Amad Diallo was at the top of his game against Preston today, with the 20-year-old delivering a crucial goal in the second half. He also had 77 touches, three shots and a key pass to his name.

The youngster’s passing was also impressive as he made 60 passes, boasting 93% passing accuracy.

Amad has played a key role in Sunderland’s success this season. He has been impressive throughout this campaign, registering 13 goals in 41 matches.

The 20-year-old has also contributed four assists and was voted the Young Player of the Year at the Stadium of Light.

Opportunities could open up for him at United following his impressive loan spell at the Black Cats.
