Manchester United’s £50m target extends contract with current club until 2024

Manchester United target Dwight McNeil has finally committed his future to Burnley – as the club officially announces. He has penned to a long-term extension this time that will see stay put at Turf Moor for at least June 2024.

His contract at Lancashire has been extended now by two years, with Burnley keeping an option to stretch that for a further year in the England U21 international’s new contract.

Having signed it, McNeil, who has had been linked hugely with a speculative summer move to Manchester United, said:

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract.

“I love playing for the club and it’s a club I want to be at.

“It’s a great position to be in and I couldn’t have asked for more help from the lads, to be honest.

“My focus was always to be a Burnley player and carry on doing what I’m doing because I love the club, I love the team and playing for the gaffer [Sean Dyche], and that’s what I want to carry on doing.

A standout winger for Sean Dyche’s side, McNeil is a former Manchester United academy graduate. As per Lancs Live, his value is at £50m.

He scored five goals and made 12 assists in63 Premier League appearances for Burnley and is thought to be a future star for the Clarets.

United have missed out on other targets who went on to sign new contracts with their current employers in the past. Dayot Upamecano, James Maddison, and Jack Grealish are the best examples.
