Manchester United will play Wrexham in friendly game this summer

Manchester United have announced the first fixture of their 2023 summer tour taking place in the United States.

The Red Devils will take on Ryan Reynolds and Robert McElhenney-owned Wrexham on July 25 at the Snapdragon Stadium in Southern California.

Manager Erik ten Hag will reportedly feature young players and academy prospects for the friendly to give them more first-team experience.

The two clubs announced the news with a brilliant video starring Wrexham’s owners and former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Red Devils travelled to Thailand, Australia and Norway for their 2022 summer tour.

They made an impressive start to their campaign by defeating Liverpool 4-0 at the Rajamangala Stadium.

United also eased past Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace at the Melbourne Cricket Ground before playing out a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa in Perth.

The Premier League giants fell to a 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in Oslo before ending their pre-season at Old Trafford with a 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Wrexham are currently in the National League, but they are on the brink of securing promotion to the Football League. They are top of the table with 97 points from 39 league games.

The team narrowly missed out on promotion last season after finishing second to Stockport County before losing in the play-offs against Grimsby Town.

The Welsh club have had a massive improvement in their fortunes since the two North American actors took over as owners in February 2021.
