Manchester United makes headlines as journalist Ian McGarry of Express reports United are in talks to increase Dean Henderson’s wages by five times.
Henderson kept 13 clean sheets with Sheffield United and is nominated for the Young Player of the Season. He helped the Blades secure promotion last season and is a brilliant young goalkeeper. He currently earns a mere £12k-a-week; the new deal is reported to be around
It is not a secret Henderson demands game time. He publicly said that playing for United is his dream. With David de Gea’s series of poor performances in the red shirt, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would appreciate some competition.
McGarry adds that Henderson wants to battle de Gea in the pre-season and leaves the final call in Ole’s hands to decide the final outcome. This wage bump from United’s side suggests positive repercussions for Henderson’s future at United.
However, Ole is unwilling to get rid of de Gea, who he thinks is the #1 goalkeeper in the world but it is in Henderson’s hands to change Solskjaer’s mind.
