Manchester United are keen on signing PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Johan Bakayoko, according to SPORT1 journalist Christopher Michel.
The Red Devils are looking to bolster their frontline next month given their struggles in front of goal in the Premier League this term.
Antony, Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Anthony Martial have all failed to impress this season, and the club want to sign Bakayoko following his inspired form in the Eredivisie and Champions League.
The 20-year-old Belgian is valued at €40 million and has bagged four goals and 13 assists in 27 games across all competitions in 2023-24.
Bakayoko impressed against Arsenal in their 1-1 draw in the Champions League earlier this month, giving the Gunners defence a tough time.
He completed five successful dribbles, recorded a 92% pass completion rate and was quite the headache for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior.
Apart from his excellent dribbling abilities and eagerness to constantly create chances for his teammates, Bakayoko is also an outstanding passer who is very comfortable holding on to the ball and shooting from distance.
Man United could do with such a brilliant forward right now having scored the second-least goals (18) in the Premier League this season.
However, whether PSV will want to lose such a key player in January remains to be seen, and the Red Devils may need to wait until the summer transfer window before making a move.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been announced as a co-owner of the club, but the Premier League will need up to four or six weeks before ratifying the deal, which would see him miss out on overseeing the January transfer window.
Bakayoko have other suitors watching him, with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool also linked, and Man United will have a fierce battle on their hands if they want to land him.
