Manchester United want Port Vale striker Baylee Dipepa

Manchester United are leading the chase for Port Vale striker Baylee Dipepa, according to the Sun.

The highly-rated England youth international has impressed for club and country recently, and the Red Devils are keen to do a deal for him soon.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to recruit young talent as he seeks to unveil the next Kylian Mbappe after admitting he is not looking to splash the cash on ready-made superstars.

The 17-year-old was called up to the England under-17 squad this month, bagging a brace on his debut in the 5-1 victory over Northern Ireland.

He also notched the opener in the 5-0 win over Hungary in a 2024 European Under-17 Championship qualifier.

Dipepa has scored two goals in 20 games across all competitions for the League One club.

He became the second-youngest goalscorer in the club’s history earlier this month, and his second goal came on Friday.

Dipepa dribbled the ball from 35 yards into shooting range before hitting the back of the net, and his displays have attracted interest from Man United.

The Red Devils scouts have been told they must be at the front of the queue for domestic talent as Ratcliffe looks to recruit the best teenage sensations across the country.

Dipepa could be the first of these, as Man United are convinced by what they have seen from him.

Although he is slowly establishing himself as a key player under manager Darren Moore, the teenager could struggle to break into the Red Devils’ first team.

He will likely be sent out on loan if he is snapped up in the summer transfer window.

Man United academy graduate Joe Hugill is currently on loan in League One with Burton Albion, and Dipepa could be allowed to continue his development at Port Vale if both parties can reach an agreement.
