Manchester United want £640m Real Madrid midfielder in Paul Pogba deal

Manchester United could open talks with Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde to replace Paul Pogba in 2021, reports The Sun.

The story claims that the 2020-21 season could be Pogba’s last at the red side of Manchester.

The French World Cup-winning midfielder already revealed his desire to don the Real Madrid shirt one day. The next summer might finally see him moving to the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid have had reportedly tried three times to sign Pogba over the years, and might finally get the Frenchman next summer.

Having extended Pogba’s stay at the club until June 2022, Manchester United will be hoping to offload the 27-year-old in 2021 for a considerable price.

The Sun understands that Manchester United might end up including Pogba in a deal that will see Valverde moving to the Mancunian club.

Valverde, 22, has a release clause of £640m in his current Real Madrid contract.

Since making his move from Uruguayan side Penarol in 2016, the 22-year-old made 74 senior appearances for Los Blancos’ senior side.

He has also racked up three goals and five assists so far – becoming one of the most crucial members of Zinedine Zidane’s team.

Pogba played around 20 minutes in United’s 4-1 away win to Newcastle United on Saturday – somehow signifying that United could endure a life without Paul Pogba under their ranks.
