Match Preview
Manchester United
After playing out a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace and losing 3-2 to Arsenal in the league last weekend, Erik ten Hag’s men bounced back with a comfortable victory in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
They will now be looking to build on that and continue their run in the FA Cup on Saturday.
United beat Everton 3-1 in the previous round, with Marcus Rashford and Antony getting on the scoresheet either side of a Conor Coady own goal.
The pair could be rested this weekend, with Jadon Sancho nearing a return to action.
Reading
Reading opened their FA Cup campaign with a 2-0 home win over Watford, with Kelvin Abrefa and Shane Long getting on the scoresheet late in either half.
They have struggled for results in the league of late and will have an uphill task at Old Trafford this weekend.
The Royals have won just one of their last ten games away from home and will be desperate to end that streak on Saturday.
Manager Paul Ince will be unable to count on the services of Andy Carroll, Naby Sarr, Sam Hutchinson and Liam Moore as they are all injured.
Players to watch – Malacia vs Ince
While Ten Hag is expected to significantly rotate his starting XI this weekend, the visitors should put out a strong team to give themselves the best chance of a result.
Tyrell Malacia has been ever-present for United in cup competitions this season and should start this weekend. The left-back has proven himself a reliable back-up to Luke Shaw and will hope to produce another solid performance on Saturday.
Thomas Ince has been perhaps Reading’s most important player this season, with the 30-year-old having the most goal contributions in the league for the visitors.
