Manchester United are said to view Birmingham City’s Jude Bellingham as a bonus signing for next season and and his arrival won’t have any impact on their summer transfer plans.
The 16-year-old has impressed during his breakthrough campaign with the Blues this term, where he has contributed four goals and two assists from 32 Championship appearances.
During this period, he has caught the eye of a number of European clubs with his versatility of playing in different midfield positions and he has occasionally joined his teammates in the attack.
United are apparently one of the favourites to lure the teenager from St Andrew’s and Sky Sports’ James Cooper has said that the midfielder’s arrival at Old Trafford would deter the club’s interest in other targets.
“Manchester United are vying to bring in 16-year-old Bellingham from Birmingham City but although he’d be part of the first-team squad if he joined, I get the sense that his capture would be something of a bonus and wouldn’t affect other targets,” he told.
United’s priority is likely to remain on signing a right-winger during the summer transfer window and they have been tipped to land the signature of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to fulfil the requirement.
Elsewhere, there has been the regular mention of Jack Grealish in the media but it appears that any move for the Aston Villa captain may depend on the future of Paul Pogba at United.
Pogba effectively has more than two years remaining on his contract with Red Devils but there are doubts whether he has any plans of committing his long-term future to the club.
Otherwise, his transfer value is likely to drop with every transfer window and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may be tempted to sanction his departure at the end of the current campaign to land a replacement.
