Transfer Rumours

Manchester United veteran goalkeeper likely to leave for a Premier League rival

Italy-based transfer guru in Gianluca di Marzio has confirmed that Manchester United and Everton have held talks over a potential deal for United’s third-choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero

Reports from other sources clarify that Manchester United want a permanent deal, while the Merseyside club want a season-long loan deal for the Argentine veteran.

And hence, there are still talks ongoing regarding this deal, with no agree found yet.

If we exclude Lee Grant from the list, Manchester United currently have three top-class goalkeepers under their ranks in David de Gea, Dean Henderson, and Sergio Romero.

Sergio Romero was pushed back down the pecking order following the return of Dean Henderson at the end of his two-year loan spell with Sheffield United.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer embraced the young Englishman at the club by handing him a long-term contract, which is expected to keep the aspiring England international at the club until  June 2025.

The new deal for Deal Henderson means Sergio Romero has to make his move away from Old Trafford in order to obtain some regular game time.

Di Marzio also suggested that Everton are in talks with AS Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen as well.

The Everton management is in the hunt for a second-choice goalkeeper for the club, with England’s no.1 in Jordan Pickford seemingly keeping his place under the bar as Carlo Ancelotti‘s favourite.
