Manchester United are approaching an agreement worth €55 million with Inter Milan for the transfer of Andre Onana, De Telegraaf report.
They further claim that the 27-year-old will sign a four-year contract with an option to extend for another year.
Inter turned down United’s second proposal of €45m plus €5m in add-ons yesterday.
Erik ten Hag wants Onana to be his first-choice goalkeeper next season after David De Gea’s contract expired last week.
The Red Devils are looking to hold face-to-face discussions with the 32-year-old over his future.
Andre Onana could be a Man Utd player very soon
Man United have made quick progress in Onana’s transfer, and they are on the verge of closing the deal.
The Italian outfit also want a rapid resolution as they are weighing up a move for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
They will make a sizeable profit if they accept United’s €55m proposal.
It was reported earlier today that the Nerazzurri have opened talks with Bayern Munich to sign Yann Sommer as a replacement.
Onana would be an excellent buy for United, considering his ball-playing abilities.
He has a superb passing range, which will be essential to United’s build-up play. He is a highly confident player who knows how to evade the opposition’s press.
His composure at the back will help the Old Trafford side dominate the ball and sustain pressure.
Onana and Ten Hag worked together previously for over four years at Ajax. This will make it easier for the Cameroonian star to fit in at United.
The Red Devils have already added Mason Mount to their squad. Once they secure Onana’s services, they will shift their focus to signing a new centre-forward.
