Manchester United: Van de Beek and Mejbri continue to struggle in nightmare loan spells

Manchester United duo Donny van de Beek and Hannibal Mejbri continue to struggle in their nightmare loan spells.

Van de Beek joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan with a €14 million buy clause, while Mejbri headed to Sevilla with a €20m buy option included in his deal

However, their performances suggest neither of the two clubs will take up the buy option in the summer.

Van de Beek was part of the Eagles’ matchday squad against Freiburg on Sunday.

However, manager Dino Toppmoller didn’t bring him off the bench as the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Europa-Park Stadion.

The 26-year-old has made only one substitute appearance in Frankfurt’s last three league games. That came against Bochum when he was substituted before full-time.

Toppmoller has also left him out of the club’s Europa Conference League squad.

Mejbri has also had a difficult start at Sevilla after joining the Spanish outfit last month.

The 21-year-old has played for just 36 minutes in three substitute appearances.

He got on the pitch for just the final minute in Sevilla’s goalless draw against Valencia on Saturday.

Mejbri is yet to start a game for Quique Sánchez Flores’ side who are struggling in 15th place in the La Liga standings

The United duo now face a massive task to turn their fortunes around before the end of the campaign.
