Picture: Manchester United unveil their home kit for the 2019/2020 season

Manchester United went through a period of turmoil on the playing field during the previous campaign where they could only secure a disappointing sixth-place finish in the Premier League.

As such, the fans won’t be able to witness the club feature in next season’s Champions League, but the Red Devils have sought to shed some of the disappointment by releasing a home jersey inspired from the 1999 treble-winning side.

United’s kit manufacturers Adidas have come with a clean and predominantly red design for the shirt with a sharp black trim. The club’s badge on the left chest has been given a gold lining with a black shield and the look has been taken up from the 1999 Champions League winner’s shirt.

Elsewhere, the club have further dedicated the jersey to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Champions League triumph and the minutes of the goals against Bayern Munich – 90+1′ and 90+3′, have been printed on the sleeves in small black boxes.

Paul Pogba has been one of the players, who has been chosen to display the home shirt in the promotional campaign and the supporters will be hoping that is a possible hint that the midfielder will remain with the team.

The Frenchman’s future has come into question after drawing criticism from the fans for his average performances during the backend of the previous season, and he has personally admitted that he would favour a new challenge elsewhere.

Still, there remains a good level of optimism that the 26-year-old will continue with the club next term, given he has been made the centre of focus for the display of the club’s 2019/2020 home jersey. The fans will have the first glimpse of the United players wearing the kit during a pre-season game against Perth Glory on July 13.
