Manchester United U18s recorded their second victory in the U18 Premier League this season on Saturday, thrashing Middlesbrough 5-0 at Carrington.
United registered their first league win of last weekend, securing a 3-0 win at Everton.
The young Reds dominated possession from the outset, but the visitors created the game’s first chance when Gabriel Taylor headed wide at the back post.
Nathaniel Junior Brown had United’s first chance, dragging his effort wide. Brown then dragged a pass back to Jariyah Shah, whose effort was saved by goalkeeper Dwayne Bernard.
Jay McEvoy broke the deadlock midway through the first half, drilling a wonderful first-time shot into the right-hand corner, scoring for the second consecutive game.
United doubled their advantage after the half-hour mark through an own-goal, with Ike Givenson heading the ball into his own net.
Edson De Jonge-Seiros, who was involved in the second goal, then made it 3-0 in the 42nd minute. The 16-year-old turned away from his marker before rifling his effort home.
Two minutes after the interval, Man United added a fourth from the penalty spot after Camron Mpofu was brought down. The striker stepped up to convert, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Moments later, Mpofu thought he had scored a second, tucking the ball home from a rebound, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
Substitute Douka Nkoto completed the scoring on the stroke of fulltime, slotting the ball calmly beyond the Boro goalkeeper.
Darren Fletcher’s side will be aiming to make it three wins in a row when they travel to Newcastle United next Saturday.
