Manchester United U18s secure convincing victory over Newcastle U18s after brace from 16-year-old forward

Manchester United Under-18s recorded a sensational 3-0 victory against Newcastle United in the U18 Premier League North yesterday, thanks to a brace from Victor Musa Aigbomian.

The third-placed United side were bidding to keep within touching distance of Manchester City and Sunderland at the top of the table.

The first half of the game at Carrington saw only a handful of chances come United’s way. Adam Berry and Victor Musa missed opportunities as Travis Binnion’s side looked to break the deadlock.

The opening goal came within two minutes of the start of the second half as James Nolan found the back of the net with a well-executed finish.

Musa then contributed to the scoreline, slotting the ball home from the edge of the box, before producing another impeccable finish in injury time.

The youngster was a threat throughout the game, while United goalkeeper Elyh Harrison was also in top form as he recorded another clean sheet in the league.

The game also marked the debuts of Sekou Kaba and Daniel Armer.

With three wins and two draws in their last five games, the Red Devils are on course for at least a top-three finish in the league this season.

Sitting only nine points behind City with three games in hand, United will look to better their 2021-22 and 2020-21 season performances, where they finished third and second, respectively.

The team will next face Nottingham Forest U18 on February 18 in an away encounter.
