Manchester United to loan out James Garner again next season?

Manchester United may loan out James Garner again in the summer, according to The Athletic.

The 20-year-old has been on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Championship since January.

Garner was loaned out to Watford at the start of the 2020 season, but his stint with The Hornets was cut short due to a lack of game time, after which he was loaned out to Forest.

According to the Athletic, United may loan out Garner again next season to a Premier League club.

Garner made his mark at youth level, before making his Premier League debut in February 2019.

He subsequently extended his contract with the club until 2022, with the option of adding another year.

He has gone on to make several senior appearances for United, with his first European game coming against Partizan Belgrade in October 2019.

Garner has made 11 starts this season for Forest, and is clearly making progress. A season of top-flight experience could help the youngster refine his skills.

With Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pobga, and Donny van de Beek, United already have several players fighting for a place in midfield.

Pogba and Van de Beek may be on their way out of Old Trafford this summer, which would leave a place open in midfield.

However, Garner is unlikely to force his way into the first team just yet and another loan move would benefit his development.
