Manchester United to assess fitness of three players ahead of their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace

Manchester United are hoping to have three players back into their squad for their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Manchester Evening News says the Red Devils will assess the fitness levels of Sergio Reguilon, Christian Eriksen and Scott McTominay.

Man United recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in the League Cup on Tuesday.

A win against the Eagles on Saturday would be another positive step for Erik ten Hag’s side after their below-average start to the season.

Sergio Reguilon’s availability is the most crucial

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain long-term absentees and are nursing their respective injuries.

This forced Man United to sign Reguilon on a season-long loan in the 11th hour of the summer transfer window.

The full-back has enjoyed a promising start to his life at Old Trafford.

He has been great going forward, but question marks remain over his defensive capabilities.

If he is not fit for the game against the Eagles, Sofyan Amrabat could keep his place at left-back.

The return of Eriksen and McTominay would boost the Man United squad.

However, it looks unlikely that either play will get straight back into the starting XI.

Mason Mount made a fine comeback against the Eagles. The inclusion of Hannibal Mejbri has added more dynamism to the team.

He has been a key cog in United’s engine room, helping the team to press high up the pitch.

Ten Hag wants his players to play with intensity – a quality Hannibal offers in abundance.

Neither Eriksen nor McTominay has shown that ability this season.
