Manchester United teenager Ethan Wheatley could be the latest starlet to break into the first-team

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are two of the best players to have emerged from the Manchester United academy in recent years.

Both players are not even 20 yet but are playing regularly in Erik ten Hag’s team this season.

However, more gifted players are expected to break into the first team over the next few years, with the club’s academy full of top talents.

They include Ethan Wheatley, who has just turned 18 but has been playing impressively for the Under-18s and Under-21s this season.

The talented youngster plays as a centre-forward and boasts exceptional finishing ability. He has scored 15 goals and provided four assists across all competitions this season.

Five goals have come in his previous four matches, including a brace in the U18 Premier League Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace

Wheatley’s excellent progress was rewarded by United when they handed him his first professional contract in January.

His teammate Ethan Williams is another top academy product whose development has impressed everyone.

The left winger has tallied 11 goals and seven assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season.

Manager Erik ten Hag has been impressed with Williams and recently invited him to train with the senior squad.

He is also set to pen a new deal with United and could be another player to make his mark in the first team over the next few years.
