Fati has put pen on paper on a deal which will see him remain in Barcelona’s books till 2024.

He will now wear the jersey no. 22 which has been vacated by Arturo Vidal. Vidal moved from Barcelona to Italian club Inter Milan

Fati’s new contract contains a release clause of €400 million (£367m/$468m). This is an increase from his previous release clause by €230m (£211m/$269m).

Ansu Fati has remained in the limelight since his debut for Barcelona. His style of play, potential has earmarked him as a future star who the rest of the clubs want to have.

Fati’s new contract has ended Manchester United’s hope.

United were monitoring Fati as an alternative for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. Reports were claiming that United were reading to launch a move for the youngster worth €100m. However, Barcelona wanted to keep their teenage superstar.

United are no closer to signing a winger now than they were then. A move for Jadon Sancho has stalled. The club has also had a bid for Juventus winger Douglas Costa rejected.

With the window going to close in less than two weeks, there is a chance that United might not get a new winger for the upcoming campaign.
