The Jadon Sancho to Manchester United deal has not moved along as one would’ve thought. United have started considering alternatives. Ousmane Dembele and Douglas Costa are some names which have appeared in the rumour mill for a while. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed that Dembele will not be sold by the club while there haven’t been any further movement on the Douglas Costa deal. According to Sport Witness, United may just go for David Brooks instead.
The Red Devils have been interested in the AFC Bournemouth #20 for a while now, but the stars just might have aligned right now. It will be relatively easier to buy a player from the Cherries post their relegation to the Championship whilst United have been not been able to attain other targets. According to the report, United’s interest in Brooks is far more serious than reported before, as a deal could be struck quickly and smoothly.
Although Brooks is not on Sancho’s level as a prospect, he could be moulded into one and that has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s way at Old Trafford. This deal could turn out to be like Daniel James’ in ways more than one. The Welshman scored five and assisted seven in his breakthrough season in the Premier League last year but only found the net once in 2019/20, having been out injured for the most of the season due to an ankle surgery.
Another twist in the tale…
