As per The Athletic, Manchester United target Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford exchanged texts to discuss their partnership at Old Trafford and were excited to link up with each other.
As we all know, United missed on their #1 target Sancho this summer.
However, United did attempt to bring Sancho to Manchester. Matt Judge launched a £80m plus add-ons bid for Sancho through the intermediaries in the final week of September. However, BVB chief Hans-Joachim Watzke rejected the offer immediately.
Sancho felt undervalued by United’s offer. He was never ready to go against BVB board and submit a transfer request. He was happy to stay at Dortmund but questioned United’s transfer approach.
United failed to bolster their squad ahead of a tough season. They finished 3rd last season and reached two semi-finals in cup competitions – UEFA Europa League and the FA Cup. Solskjaer was supposed to be backed but he didn’t get his man.
