Manchester United table third offer for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have finally taken a major step towards landing Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

According to The Athletic, Man United have lodged a new bid worth £65 million plus £5m to sign Mbeumo from Brentford.

The Red Devils are now awaiting a response from the London club.

Brentford have already rejected two offers from United.

The Bees initially wanted a fee in the region of £60m-£65m but increased their demand recently.

They now value Mbeumo at around £70m after movements over the last two weeks in the transfer market.

Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro, Noni Madueke and Mohammed Kudus garnered fees of around £50m.

Mbeumo produced far superior performances, smashing 20 goals and eight assists last season.

Ruben Amorim fields his side in a 3-4-2-1 set-up and Mbeumo is viewed as a perfect fit for the right-sided number 10 role.

He is naturally left-footed and could add directness to United’s toothless attack.

He could form a dream partnership with Matheus Cunha, who was signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in this window.

United will be hoping that Brentford accept their latest offer and allow Mbeumo to join Amorim for the upcoming pre-season tour to the United States.

Newcastle United are planning to make a summer swoop for Brentford striker Yoane Wissa.

The Bees may not allow both Wissa and Mbeumo to leave the club in the same window, having already seen the exit of their manager Thomas Frank.

It was important for the Red Devils to stop thinking about a few million pounds and table an acceptable offer.

If Brentford decline this proposal, United may explore other alternatives.
