James Maddison has signed a new four-year contract with Leicester, ending speculation linking him with a move away from the club.
Manchester United have missed out on Gabriel, Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and many more so far. The latest to join the list is Maddison.
Earlier this year, it was reported that James Maddison wanted a move to Old Trafford. The suggested fee from the Foxes was around £80m.
As per Daily Mail, Maddison agreed the new deal worth around £100,000 per week last month.
Since the 23-year-old has made his first team debut for the English international side last November, he has scored 16 goals in 76 appearances.
He even installed a rooftop bar on his Leicestershire home as he prepares to stick around for the next few years.
Compared to Leicester, United had an advantage of providing Maddison with an opportunity to play in the Champions League as the Foxes finished fifth.
United will compete in four competitions next season- Premier League, FC Cup, Carabao Cup and the Champions League playing two games per week. They need depth. Bruno Fernandes cannot start every game. Nor can Paul Pogba. Pogba’s injuries are a concern too. Last season, it made United look hopeless in the midfield in Pogba’s absense.
Both Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard could leave the club. After loosing out on Maddison, United need to hunt for other options in the middle of the park.
