Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly reluctant to sign a new long-term contract with the Red Devils amid the intention to work under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.
Pogba made it clear that he would prefer a new challenge away from Old Trafford earlier this summer but that has not been the case even after the close of the Premier League transfer window.
Still, there continues to remain the speculation with three days remaining before the European transfer deadline and Marca claims that the 26-year-old will snub a new extension to join Los Blancos at the earliest opportunity.
Pogba is presently contracted to United until the summer of 2021, but the club have the option to prolong his stay by another 12 months through an extension clause available.
As such, it can be assured that the hierarchy won’t consider the slightest of thought of sanctioning his sale this summer and that could remain the case in January, barring a significant bid made by Los Blancos
However, it won’t be a surprise if the World Cup winner is allowed to leave Old Trafford in the summer of 2020, should he continue with the contract standoff until then.
Pogba has certainly been inconsistent with his performances for United over the past three years but it can’t be denied that the Frenchman is by far the most talented player in the current first-team squad.
Owing to this, United would surely command big money for the midfielder’s talents and Marca suggests a price tag of around £181m (€200m) has been set for the future sale of the Frenchman.
