Manchester United star set to be unavailable until end of October

Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford is set to undergo surgery on a shoulder injury, as per BBC Sport.

The 23-year-old is now expected to be sidelined for the first two months of the season.

The talented forward was hampered by the problem towards the latter stages of the 2020-21 campaign, and it has now been decided that surgery is the only option.

However, since the surgeon isn’t available until the end of this month, the operation will not happen immediately, meaning that he is unlikely to be available until the end of October.

Rashford’s injury is a big blow to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side who will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The England international was a key member of the team last campaign, notching 21 goals in 57 appearances for the Red Devils.

Although United have confirmed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, their performances could still be affected by Rashford’s absence.

The news is also a big blow to the Manchester-born footballer who recently suffered racist abuse after missing his spot-kick in the Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.

His teammates Sancho and Bakayo Saka were also targeted online after missing their penalties against the Azzurri at Wembley Stadium.
