Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo earns maiden England senior squad call-up

Manchester United starlet Kobbie Mainoo has received a late call-up to the England squad for their upcoming international fixtures against Brazil and Belgium.

Mainoo was initially part of the England U21 squad but has now been promoted to the senior team.

The 18-year-old has been a shining light for Man United this season, and his sublime performances have caught Gareth Southgate’s attention.

Mainoo starred in United’s 4-3 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup over the weekend. His stunning rise over the last few months was too tough for the Three Lions boss to ignore.

The Man United academy graduate made his first Premier League start in November 2023. He has become a mainstay in United’s midfield over the last four months.

England face Brazil at Wembley Stadium on Saturday before hosting Belgium three days later..

Even at this young age, Mainoo has shown exceptional character and wisdom which a seasoned professional usually possesses.

He has shown great tight ball control and does not shy away from making tackles. He displayed quick feet and fine dribbling ability against Liverpool.

The youngster used the same trickery to score the match-winning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

The Red Devils are considering rewarding Mainoo for his exceptional displays by tripling his current wages of £20,000-a-week.

United must keep hold of the midfielder as he could develop into a future superstar.
