As per Fichajes, Manchester United are seeking a back-up option for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and have shortlisted three names.
United are left with Wan-Bissaka and Timothy Fosu-Mensah after Diogo Dalot was sent on a season-long loan deal to AC Milan.
Since arriving from Crystal Palace in 2019, Wan-Bissaka has established himself as the undisputed no.1 pick. On the other hand, we’ve seen very less of Fosu-Mensah.
The Dutchman made his debut under Louis Van Gaal and looked impressive. However, his potential took a plunge after he was sidelined for more than 300 days due to injuries. His contract will expire next summer and reports suggest that the Red Devils have offered Fosu-Mensah a new contract.
In Milan, the Rossoneri are willing to attain Dalot’s services permanently. Dalot himself is happy with the Italian side. United have not inserted a clause that gives Milan the option to buy him permanently.
United do not need a right-back but they are correct to explore options as things look uncertain right now.
The three names shortlisted are:
- Ricardo Pereira (Leicester City)
- Emerson (Barcelona, on loan to Real Betis)
- Max Aarons (Norwich City)
Periera is the best option from the aforementioned. He’s been injured this season but he is a top-notch right-back and should be a brilliant signing. His attacking output is better than Wan-Bissaka and he will offer dynamism to United’s right-wing.
21-year-old Emerson has caught some attention at Real Betis this season. He’s made eight appearances and look promising. However, this transfer seems unlikely as Barcelona signed him last year and is ‘one for the future’. If United were to buy Emerson, they’d better manage to make either Dalot or Fosu-Mensah stay.
Max Aarons broke out in the Premier League last season with Norwich City. He was one of Canaries’ best players. Currently in Championship, he will be the cheapest option and is most likely to accept a secondary role at Old Trafford. Aarons is 20-years-old and possesses high attacking and defensive output.
Out of all three names, our pick is Max Aarons. He is cheap, available, and has impressed in the Premier League before.
