Manchester United want around £50 million to sanction Jadon Sancho’s exit in the upcoming summer transfer window, Ben Jacobs reports.
Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund in January on loan for the remainder of the season.
He has started to find his feet, bagging three goals and two assists in 17 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.
Sancho performed well in Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final in midweek.
He was pushed out of Old Trafford due to his explosive fallout with manager Erik ten Hag and refusal to apologise to him.
There is no surprise that Sancho is shining in a familiar space where he has more freedom.
He is a talented player and has a bright future. However, a Man United player not only needs to have talent but also the bravery to face constant scrutiny from the media.
The Red Devils paid £72.9m to the German giants to secure his services in 2021. United would incur a loss of over £20m in this deal.
It is not a favourable outcome, especially when Sancho’s best years are ahead of him.
However, if Ten Hag remains the United manager next season, the club must back him ahead of the player.
If Sancho wants to return to Old Trafford and play regularly, he has two options. First, he must apologise to Ten Hag.
Alternatively, if INEOS decide to appoint a new manager, they could give Sancho a clean slate.
