Manchester United are ready to table a players-plus-cash deal for West Ham United star Declan Rice, according to the Daily Mail.
The Red Devils are looking to offer £40 million in cash plus Harry Maguire and Anthony Elanga to sign Rice.
Arsenal have already bid twice for the midfielder, but both offers have been turned down.
The la one was a £90 million bid – £75m plus £15m in add-ons spread over five years. They are expected to make a revised offer soon.
Manchester City have joined the transfer battle for the 24-year-old as Ilkay Gundogan is joining Barcelona.
Man Utd are outsiders in Declan Rice’s transfer race
Arsenal have earmarked Rice as their primary target but have yet to agree on the transfer fee with the Hammers.
Man United should use this opportunity to hijack the deal.
Maguire and Elanga both are surplus to requirements under Erik ten Hag. Maguire does not suit Ten Hag’s style of play, while Elanga barely played last season.
United’s supporters would love to see Rice make his way to Old Trafford. However, that seems unlikely.
West Ham want £100m to sanction the departure of their most prized asset.
United’s priority is to sign an elite striker, which will likely cost a nine-figure sum.
Mason Mount is on the verge of signing for United in a deal worth £50-60m.
Considering they also need to sign a goalkeeper, they cannot spend heavily on another midfielder.
